• Pat Fontes – You Make Me EP – Airdrop Records

A friend and family member to all of us here at Monism, Pat Fontes. We want to send him congrats and let you know about his first EP of 2010 on Airdrop Records. He is certainly kicking in the year with some heat!

A low-profile, honest-to-goodness and distinctly aware DJ and producer, PAT FONTES has over 15 years of experience under his belt. His knowledge of electronic music has made him into a connoisseur of sorts.

Brought up by his Portuguese mother in a Boston suburb, it is where Pat started running the now legendary Satellite Records Boston in 2001. As years pass, PAT FONTES has the honor to play some of the most upfront audible treats to many ears all over the US and with the best talents of the globe.

Pat’s style of DJing and production is a unique and healthy mixture of a variety of techno genres, sometimes going beyond into more experimental music. Being quoted by his peers as “Mr. Techno”, this mumble enciclopedia of electronic has the know-how and innovative pulse to show his true passion through his very personal style and creations.

Pat Fontes has released his music on Thoughtless (CA) and Monism. There were also his beautiful High Hopes EP tunes, that came out on Don’t Sleep Worldwide last year, remixed by DAVE DK and DAVID MOTHERSOLE. Last time you heard Fontes on Airdrop was a while ago, on the occasion of the “ill lillies” appearance on our Extraction US compilation. This makes the You Make Me EP a largely awaited release. PAT FONTES has been preparing this one for a while now, giving way to a myriad of roaring techno waves.

Featured here are two Fontes originals, “You Make Me” and “La Noche”, great assortments of key classic old-school techno elements: shuffles, relieving synths, ravaging jack-hammer grooves and half-time switches.

On the remix front, TANNER ROSS takes “You Make Me” on a ride to dubtechno grounds. Applying sandy and gritty aesthetics to his remix, Pat’s Boston neighbour excels in technique and vision with this exquisite modern remix.

Remixing “La Noche” is Mr. PAUL MAC, who has been one of Pat’s greatest inspiration since the early days and over the years. Having the man accept to remix one of the two tracks was a great excitment for us all. We find here PAUL MAC’s signature sound: spectacular crystal clear big room techno

  • Dylan Rhymes vs Tom Real ’GODZILLA’ + REMIXES

Kicking off the new year with a remix package as monstrous as it’s title, we have put our best agents on remix duties for what is sure to be one of the most epic releases of the new decade, Godzilla – a collaboration between label boss Dylan Rhymes and Tom Real who is better known for his work alongside The Rogue Element under the alias Disco of Doom.

Unsurprisingly given the track’s name and the combined musical pedigree of those who made it the original is nothing short of a dancefloor destroying techno monster – slowly emerging from the deep before unleashing its full fury in the form of searing synths and a rolling bassline that promises to crush all those that dare stand in its sonic path! File this away under legendary as this timeless techno masterpiece (much like the legend of Godzilla) guarantees not to date and looks set to terrorize clubland for a very long time.

Pitting their remix strengths against the reptilian beast we have special guests Atomic Drop as well as label regulars Vandal, Dopamine, Caninesounds and Fussy Boy who makes his debut Lot49 appearance. In the usual Lot49 fashion this package includes something for everyone – electro house courtesy of Atomic Drop, stomping peak time breakbeat courtesy of Vandal, noisy indie-nu disco vibes via Fussy Boy, Dopamine delivering his signature hybrid blend of techno / tech house flavours and last but certainly not least Caninesounds take things deeper for those who prefer their music with a minimalistic slant.

Tony Senghore ’Fussy boy remix does it for me! Great stuff!’
MC Flipside ’wooh,,,, soundsystems better lookout… killer package..’
DJ Dan ’original is my fav!’
    Dadalife ’Fussy Boy for us!’
Plump DJs ’Quality from lot49. fussy boy mix is really original’
    Joris Voorn ’Nice track! 4/5’

  • Monism Pod 026 – Outsider – November Mix

In the mid nineties the Junior Boys own label was at the peak of its powers, releasing music from Underworld, the Chemical Brothers and X-Press 2 and amongst this triumvirate of soon to be pop stars came some of the best underground techno & house music of the decade from the duo of Marvin Beaver and Justin Drake setting forth under the moniker Outsider. Fast forward almost a decade and a half and both Beaver and Drake look back on considerable successes under the banners of Dylan Rhymes and Peace Division respectively. However it seems for Beaver at least there is some unfinished business here, and so he has decided to take matters into his own hands, saying farewell to Justin Drake and setting out on his own under! After lying dormant through the change of millennia and beyond it’s now time for Outsider to rise from the still warm ashes of its distant past to once again set alight the dancefloors of the present. Check out the newest OUTSIDER EP on LOT49 RECORDS!
